PROJECTS > Girl Talk 2015-2017

Girl Talk is a performance and video project that documents the lives and favorite hang outs places of 5 teenage girls living in the Bloor Dufferin Neighbourhood. Over a 6 month period of time, the girls and I hung out at places including Popeyes, Dufferin Mall, Dufferin Grove Park, Tim Hortons and more as a pedagogical tool to get to know each other and our personal life stories.

Part documentary, part fiction, this project explores the evolution of a girl group, safe social spaces for teenage girls, and my own nostalgia to participate in youth culture.

Currently editing the footage, this project will finalize a video portrait of a neighbourhood mapped by a diverse group of girls.

In collaboration with Salma Berhanu, Mika Hjorngaard, Elena Andreev, Lia Reyes, and Rosa Marks. Cinematography: Maegan Broadhurst
